For skincare brands

When AI answers a shopper looking for skincare, are you in the answer?

Shoppers have stopped typing keywords and started asking questions. Shelf Check puts those questions to the AI answer engines, records every word of what comes back, and reads your store the way an AI crawler reads it — then shows you both, with the evidence quoted.

The questions we actually ask for skincare

These are generated from your category, not written by hand — the same way the real run builds them. Your subcategory replaces the product name, so a skincare brand selling “gentle retinol serum” is measured on questions about “gentle retinol serum”, not about skincare in general.

  • highest quality gentle retinol serum
  • best premium gentle retinol serum
  • best value gentle retinol serum
  • best gentle retinol serum for …where the gap is filled by your own answer
  • which gentle retinol serum works best for …where the gap is filled by your own answer
  • what gentle retinol serum do people recommend for …where the gap is filled by your own answer

In step two we ask you one question — What problems does it solve? — and your words go into that gap, unedited. No AI rewrites them, which is what makes your report comparable to every other brand measured the same way.

What a free report covers

Free is one report per website. The whole on-site half is included in full — nothing on your own store is held back for the paid tier.

22 checks on your own store

Whether an AI crawler can read your pages at all, and what it finds when it does. Every result quotes the words actually found on the page.

26 questions, asked 2 times each

Because AI answers vary between runs, so asking once measures luck.

The engines' own words

What was said about you, who was named instead, and which sources were cited.

The fixes, ranked

Each one traced back to the check that found it.

What we will not tell you

There is no skincare category average on this page.

And there will not be one until we have measured enough brands for it to mean anything — 30 completed reports in a category, market and size band before a benchmark is published. Today that threshold has not been reached in any category. A number invented to fill the space would be worse than an empty space.

AI answers are non-deterministic and vary by user, session and location. Your report is a point-in-time snapshot with the evidence attached, not a guarantee of placement.

Skincare is a repeat-purchase category, which is where Cadence works. The report stands on its own either way.
